The Gordon and Faith Greiner Nature Preserve is a 73-acre property owned by the Shirley Heinze Land Trust. It is characterized by an ecotone (a transitional landscape) that ranges from black oak savanna, to wet prairie to swamp. The southern portion of the property was formerly used for agriculture and is currently being restored to prairie. The north end of the property includes a fen, a wetland fed year-round by groundwater. The Preserve is a part of the Hobart Marsh complex, and it supports several plant communities.
